  1. There’s a similar village, Kayaköy, in southern Turkey, Ron, about 2 miles south of Fethiye. Before 1923, the time of the great population exchange, it was a thriving mixed Muslim/Christian community. This is what man’s interference does to people.     Local rumour has it, however, that the departing Greeks put a curse on the village in order to ensure it stayed deserted.
